A teleprompter video recorder for iPhone and iPad
ClippCut runs in Safari, so there’s nothing to download. It records MP4 and opens the iPhone share sheet, so your video goes straight into TikTok, Instagram or Photos.
Step by step: record a social video with ClippCut
- Pick the shape. 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts; 1:1 or 4:5 for the feed; 16:9 for YouTube. The camera frame shows exactly what you’ll post.
- Read while you record. Your script scrolls right under the lens as you talk, so you keep eye contact. Voice follow keeps pace with you.
- Captions, timed to your words. ClippCut already knows your script, so it times captions to the take and burns them into the video. No upload, no transcript to fix.
- Trim and post. Trim the start and end, then save an MP4 or share it straight to TikTok, Instagram or YouTube from your phone.
Set it up
- Open ClippCut in Safari and tap Allow for the camera and microphone.
- Tap the share button and choose Add to Home Screen, so it opens full screen like an app.
- Paste your script, pick 9:16 and record.
- Tap Share and choose TikTok, Instagram, or Save Video for Photos.
Good to know on iPhone
- If you switch apps while recording, iPhone stops the camera. ClippCut saves what it recorded so far.
- Keep the prompter at the top: the front camera is there, so your eyes stay near the lens.
- If the camera doesn’t start, check Settings → Safari → Camera and Microphone.
Files every app accepts
On iPhone, ClippCut records standard MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, the format TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Photos expect. Takes stay in Safari’s storage on your phone until you delete them; save the ones you want to keep to Photos.
When an iPhone runs very low on space it can clear website storage, so share or save a take soon after you record it.
Front or back camera?
The front camera lets you see the prompter and yourself, which is easiest. The back camera is sharper, but you can't see the screen while it faces you, so use it with someone else reading or a separate prompter. For most talking-head videos, the front camera with the prompter at the top is the right choice.
Tips for a clean take on iPhone
- Turn on Do Not Disturb, so calls and notifications don't interrupt the recording.
- Clean the front camera lens; a smudge softens the whole picture.
- Lock the phone in portrait on a small tripod or stack of books at eye level.
- Plug in for long sessions: recording and the screen together use a lot of battery.
Storage
Takes are kept in Safari's storage for ClippCut until you delete them. If your iPhone is low on space, iOS may clear website data it hasn't used for a while, so save the videos you want to keep to Photos.
Questions
Does it work in Chrome on iPhone?
Yes. Browsers on iPhone use Safari’s engine (outside a few EU exceptions), so ClippCut works the same in Chrome, Edge and Firefox there.
