Phones are the best camera most people own
The front camera on a recent iPhone or Android phone is sharp enough for social video, and holding the phone at eye level puts the script right under the lens. ClippCut runs in Safari on iPhone and iPad and in Chrome on Android, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.
Setting up
- Allow the camera and microphone the first time. If you said no by mistake, the device guides above show where to turn them back on.
- Prop the phone at eye level, about an arm’s length away, with light in front of you rather than behind.
- Clean the lens. It is the most common reason phone video looks soft.
- A wired or Bluetooth microphone improves sound more than any camera setting.
On a computer
ClippCut works in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox with a built-in or USB webcam. Lower the prompter in Settings so the text sits just under the camera, make the window full screen, and raise the laptop so the camera is at eye level: a stack of books works.
